I am interested in extreme contrasts, and
want my work to provide something unexpected. Throw me for a loop; make me laugh while showing me tragedy; get me to cry in
the middle of a joke; I want the work to change as you look at it and make you re-think your first impression. Can something
be loud while being quiet? Can it be gross while being sexy? Can it both comfort and frighten you? Can I convince you of something,
only to change it on you when you blink? Can I seduce you while turning you off?My work is not modernist or expressionistic; it is not narrative or representational; it
is not formalist or conceptual. I believe it can be all of these things and none of them at once. It is both funny and mean,
well crafted and sloppy, beautiful and ugly. It exists to be interpreted and investigated, conflicts itself every chance it
gets, and will both confuse and confound the audience. Obnoxiousness and Sarcasm are under utilized tools in the art world, and I am taking them back.
